One of the first repairs to be made on my latest addition to my Cadillac garage (a mildly customized 1950 Cadillac series 62 sedan) was changing the speedometer scale from mph to km/h.
Got the km/h scale from TA Motor in Sweden
A rather straightforward job but it is a bit tight in some spots behind the dashboard of the 1950 Cadillac in these instances it´s good to have rather small hands 🙂
Original mph scale
Instrument cluster removed by unscrewing 2 nuts on backside of cluster. see next slide
The left fastening screw is seen on the far left of cluster backside needs to be reached from behind after removing emergency brake bracket.
The right fastening screw is seen on the far right of cluster backside needs to be reached from behind.
Then the speedometer cable has to be removed after extracting the cluster one or two inches as cables permits. A tips note where all lamps and cables go. Mark them up.
